EarthLink Internet Plans and Download Speeds

There are several different download speeds and price points, which vary by connection type and location. In more remote areas or smaller centers serviceable by a DSL connection, EarthLink Hyperlink 12 Mbps DSL, 15 Mbps DSL or even a 24 Mbps DSL plan may be available, while in larger communities; rates of 80 Mbps, 100 Mbps or even 200 Mbps may be available. In larger metro areas with more developed fiber internet infrastructure, EarthLink's HyperLink 1,000 Mbps Fiber Internet (1 Gbps) may be available. Like the EarthLink DSL plans, Earthlink's 1,000 Mbps fiber plans have unlimited data. In fact, EarthLink was one of first ISP's to offer unlimited data with no data cap restrictions, for a flat monthly rate. With fast internet speeds available and unlimited data, Earthlink Internet is suitable for a modern connected household running multiple devices. Faster connections and unlimited data allow multiple devices to upload & download files, music & video streaming in HD, and online gaming. Keep in mind that with faster download speeds comes a higher monthly price. Also note that for most services, the upload speeds are lower than the download speeds. Typically upload speeds with Earthlink DSL are 10-20% of the maximum internet connection speed.

Charges and Fees

When making a decision about any internet plan, it's important to understand the contract details. This may include information about any charges associated with the options that they are considering. EarthLink plans have up-front fees associated with a starting a new plan. Mandatory fees associated with your new internet plan may include: site installation fees as well as an additional equipment fee for the modem. Unless a self install option is available installation costs include a one-time Professional Installation Fee of $69.95. For the equipment fees, customers have the option to pay modem rental fees of $6.95 per month, or the option to pay a one-time fee of $74.95 for purchase of the modem equipment. A contract with EarthLink typically has a minimum time-frame of 1 year. If the customer decides to terminate their contract prior to this, they must pay an early termination fee of up to $200. All of EarthLink's internet plans come with no data cap restrictions or data limit at no additional cost. EarthLink does not offer introductory teaser rates, but instead offers a flat rate pricing strategy through the full term of the agreement. Keeping all of the above in mind, EarthLink is considered one of the most affordable providers. With a wide variety of plans and download speeds at different price points, there's pricing and download speeds to fit various budgets. Again, always remember to read and search through contract agreement details and information regarding the data services provided in your plan for anything you may not have noticed at first glance.
