Xfinity Internet Consumer Tips
Comcast Xfinity plans can be ordered with no term agreement and no early termination fee. The best pricing may not be available without an agreement, but promo pricing without a contract is typically better than the regular rate. Better deals are often available for new customers who agree to a minimum term (usually 12 months). The best deals are made available to those who agree to longer terms like 24 months or more.
A wi-fi router/modem may not be included with all Xfinity internet plans. It is possible to use your own modem or pay a rental fee as opposed to buying one outright. However, customers who use their own devices do not have access to equipment upgrades, advanced security, and wi-fi controls. Comcast provides a list of third party devices that are compatible with Xfinity internet service.
The Xfinity xFi Gateway all-in-one modem and router is available with two plans. The basic xFi costs an additional $14 per month and the xFi Complete costs an additional $25 per month. With the basic xFi plan, customers get advanced security, device upgrades and tech support. The xFi also allows customers to see which devices are connected to their wi-fi network and pause wi-fi for certain devices. The xFi Complete has all of these benefits, as well as unlimited data and an xFi pod device if necessary.
