Verizon Internet Consumer Tips
Verizon frequently offers to pay the early termination fees for users stuck in a competitor's home high internet contract as an incentive to switch to Verizon DSL or Verizon FiOS high speed internet. The best promotional deals typically require a 1 year to 3 year agreement for which their may be an early termination fee, but an internet package without an agreement may be available at a higher cost. An equipment rental fee and set-up charge may apply for some plans. Users may also be charged an infrastructure improvement fee and fees for accessing local channels on FiOS TV. When comparing Verizon high speed internet deals it is advisable to consider the total cost for the term of the agreement including taxes, additional fees and the monthly price once promotional terms have expired.
While bundled Verizon high speed plans including phone and TV may appear to offer the most attractive discounts, a standalone Verizon high speed internet plan may be appropriate for "cord cutting" in an area where internet access speeds are at least 15 Mbps. That said, users looking to stream HD video and simultaneously connect multiple devices may find that even a 15 Mbps DSL connection is not adequate for their needs. Perspective cord cutters in areas serviced by FiOS fiber plans will find a gigabit high speed internet connection to be more than sufficient for this purpose.
